Nevada Guardianship Principles
- Guardianships are governed by NRS Chapter 159 (adults) and NRS Chapter 159A (minors).
- The court will only appoint a guardian when it finds that no less-restrictive alternatives are available.
- The proposed guardian must usually undergo a background check and, in some cases, training approved by the court.
- The court requires ongoing compliance, including the filing of annual status reports or accountings.
- Filing fees, investigation costs, and other third-party fees are the responsibility of the petitioner.
